Comments / Attractions:  Hanmer Springs is an alpine thermal resort situated less than 2 hours from Christchurch off the Lewis Pass, gateway to the scenic west coast of New Zealand on the Alpine Pacific Highway.  Hanmer won the 2004 New Zealand tourist visitor award.  It is well known for its thermal hot springs, but also has many other attractions, such as a scenic golf course, forest walks, adventure activities, great cafes and restaurants.
