Comments/ Attractions:
Native bush walk; park-like gardens; petanque and tennis courts; large patio; 3 living rooms (log fires in winter). Close to Waikanae Golf Club and only 15 minutes from Paraparaumu Golf Links (ranked 79th in world).
Waikanae, a village of about 9,000 residents, plus many holiday homes, is only a 50 minute scenic drive from New Zealand's capital city Wellington, and 1 hour from Palmerston North. Only 5 minutes to Paraparaumu and the biggest shopping mall on the Kapiti Coast. Frequent commuter trains and buses operate between Wellington and Kapiti. (No parking hassles) Only 50 minutes to the Cook Strait Ferry terminal.
With Kapiti Island to the west, and the beautiful bush clad Tararua Ranges to the east, Waikanae enjoys a unique sub-tropical microclimate similar to Northland (the northernmost part of New Zealand). The weather in Waikanae is quite different from Wellington. It is generally warmer and less windy.
